“No kid should have to feel how I felt at school”
– Matt Strawbridge, Founder, Dyslexia Potential
At preschool, I was happy, confident and outgoing.
Starting school was a traumatic experience. Everyone around me was making progress while I fell behind, struggling to read or write. I felt stupid, embarrassed, anxious and distressed. Mum and Dad practically had to drag me kicking and screaming to school each day.
Fast forward to 2017 and I have shared a stage with Richard Branson, was personally invited to complete an internship at a billion dollar company, and I was the youngest finalist ever for Young New Zealander of the Year.
So how did I go from struggling severely at school to thriving and loving life?
Everything that happened between then and now was a journey that saw me learn how to embrace my dyslexia, and use it to my advantage.
My journey was full of trial and error, but after a lot of research and testing I found the methods that worked for me. It is these methods that have been fundamental to the evolution of Dyslexia Potential.
Dyslexia Potential has been tested in dozens of different forms and iterations. I’ve written blogs, posted videos, run workshops and done one-on-one tutoring for other dyslexic kids.
I’ve had hundreds of dyslexic kids and their parents give feedback and insight to continuously improve and refine these learning strategies and stress management techniques.
This membership site is the culmination of everything we’ve learned so far. An interactive, and fun online learning tool, this is far from textbook learning.
